MoU Between 91èÏÈÉú and Sky Tech UAV Flying Academy

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was formalised between the 91èÏÈÉú and Sky Tech UAV Flying Academy (Pvt) Ltd on 18 June 2026 at the college house premises in the presence of Professor , Vice Chancellor of the University; Professor , Dean of the Faculty of Technology; Dr , Head of the Department of Agricultural Technology; Dr , Course Coordinator of the Department of Agricultural Technology; and the Directors of Sky Tech UAV Flying Academy, Mr Priyalal Dilakshan Jayasundera, Mr Harsha Govinda Koralearachchi, and Mr. Dhananjaya Asiri Weerasooriya.
This strategic collaboration facilitates the introduction of the Diploma in Drone Technology for Agriculture, an academic and professional qualification aimed at strengthening capacity in emerging agricultural technologies in Sri Lanka. The programme has been designed to provide participants with advanced theoretical knowledge and practical competencies in unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) technologies and their application in precision agriculture. The curriculum integrates key disciplines including drone operations, remote sensing, aerial mapping, crop health monitoring, precision spraying systems, geospatial data acquisition, data analytics, image processing, machine learning, and smart farming technologies. By combining academic rigour with industry-oriented training and field-based applications, the programme seeks to develop a skilled workforce capable of supporting evidence-based agricultural decision-making, enhancing productivity and resource-use efficiency, and accelerating the adoption of digital and data-driven innovations within Sri Lanka’s agricultural sector.
This partnership represents a significant step towards advancing agricultural modernisation and fostering sustainable, technology-enabled agricultural development in the country.
